President John Dramani Mahama has called on the people of Bawku to use the holy month of Ramadan as an opportunity to embrace peace and unity.

He urged them to set aside their differences and work toward lasting harmony, emphasizing that Ramadan is a time for reflection, forgiveness, and reconciliation.

Speaking at the Eid-ul-Fitr celebration at Independence Square on 31st March, 2025, President Mahama called on the people of Bawku to let peace prevail.
He also reminded them that Eid-ul-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan, is a time to give peace a chance.
“I want to take the opportunity once again to call on our brothers and sisters in Bawku to give peace a chance.”
“On this holy occasion, where we celebrate the feast of Eid-ul-Fitr after the holy month of Ramadan, my brothers and sisters in Bawku, let us give peace a chance.”
The president also extended his warmest wishes to all Muslims in Ghana and around the world.
In relation to that, the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Nuhu Sharubutu, has also called on the people of Bawku to let peace prevail so that the killings will stop.

He said it is very worrying to see people dying in the region; hence, he calls on the people to embrace peace.
