Minority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markins, has advised the youth of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) to refrain from disrespecting their leaders on social media and airing the internal issues publicly.
According to him, the youth should rather channel their grievances through the party’s internal communication and work towards resolving issues.
“Don’t insult your leaders on social media, use the back channels within the party the party to express dissent and don’t go out washing our dirty-linen in public,” he stated on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at the party’s headquarters in Accra.
He explained that the party’s defeat in the 2024 election might have provided a valuable opportunity for introspection and reassessment, ultimately strengthening their vision.
“Indeed for every cloud, there is a silver lining, the outcome of the 2024 elections may not accord in our favor but perhaps, it gave us the moment to pause, to reflect and to pair this vision of patriotic institute.”
He added “Has this turned out differently, this dream may have remained on the shelves; let us not lose guards, the battle as we say is the Lord’s.
“My dear brethren, the elephant is mighty, though it may stumble, it does not fall forever; we will rise again and we shall do so with clarity and a better strategy,” he encouraged.
Mr. Afenyo-Markins further called on the youth to let go of the past by burrying the anger and division and focus on a united front to drive the party forward.
“Let us put an end to the anger and division of the past and let us move forward as one people,” he said.
