Traders at the Kejetia Market in Kumasi has passionately appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to complete the long-delayed Krofrom Market project, expressing strong confidence in his ability to deliver where others have fallen short.
Addressing President Mahama during his visit to the market on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, the trader highlighted the frustrations of market women who have been forced to trade outside due to the stalled project, often risking their safety as vehicles pass through the busy streets.
“We beg President Mahama. As for us, what we do is trading. We beg him, since he has seen the Kejetia Phase II, I know they will go to Krofrom and see the market over there. We beg him. The reason traders are selling outside is because they’ve not yet completed the market, while cars keep running over them,” she said.
She compared Mahama’s record to that of previous administrations, insisting that despite being in power for eight years, they failed to complete the Krofrom Market.
“We know President Mahama is the one who can do it. Some people came into power for eight years and they couldn’t do it. We know him and what he can do, and we have hope that he can do that for us,” she added.
The trader further pleaded with President Mahama to ensure the project is completed within his first four-year term so that traders can operate in a safer, more secure environment.
“We beg, please do the project for us so that by the end of the four years, we can trade there. If it will be our will, if your four years’ tenure ends, we would’ve called on you to continue,” she concluded.
President Mahama’s visit to Kejetia Market is part of his Thank You Tour in the Ashanti Region, where he is engaging traders, residents, and traditional leaders to discuss development needs and ongoing projects.
