The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially opened nominations for its 2026 presidential primaries ahead of the January 31 contest to elect a new flagbearer.
The announcement was made by the party’s General Secretary, Lawyer Justin Frimpong Koduah, during a press briefing held at the party’s headquarters at Asylum Down in Accra today.
He disclosed that the nomination process is scheduled to close on August 28, 2025. Interested aspirants are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of GHS100,000.
Mr. Koduah also announced the formation of a nine-member Vetting Committee to oversee the vetting of presidential hopefuls. The committee will be chaired by former Manhyia MP, Hon. Dr. Kwame Addo-Kufuor.
Additionally, a Presidential Elections Committee has been constituted, chaired by former Bekwai MP and First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Joseph Osei Owusu, popularly known as Joe Wise.
According to the General Secretary, campaign activities by aspirants will officially commence after the Akwatia by-election.
