The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) says it has initiated an investigation into the alleged assault of a journalist by one of its officers during an encounter around Spintex Road in Accra.
According to GAF, its actions follow a directive from the Presidency aimed at upholding the Armed Forces’ longstanding commitment to professionalism and public accountability.
In a press statement issued by Captain VA Arhin, Acting Director General of Public Relations at GAF, the institution is treating the incident with utmost seriousness.
“Investigations have begun into the inappropriate conduct of some soldiers during an encounter with some journalists… those found culpable will be dealt with accordingly,” the statement read.
The Armed Forces pledged a thorough inquiry and reassured the public of its continued dedication to maintaining high standards of conduct.
