The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has conveyed its deepest condolences to the Asantehene, Otumfour Osei Tutu II, the royal family and the people of Asanteman, upon the passing of the Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.
The GJA, in a statement signed by the president, Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, described the Asantehemaa as a revered royal mother, leader and counsellor whose dignity and devotion to royalty stood out within the cherished traditions of Asanteman, and the unity of Ghana as a whole.
“Her life was a testimony of service to the Golden Stool, the cherished culture of Asanteman, and the unity of Ghana as a whole,” the Association said.
According to the GJA, Nana Konadu Yiadom III’s compassionate and wise leadership embodied the principles of effective communication, aligning with the professional standards of journalism.
The Association also recalled her consistent emphasis on discipline, education and the preservation of cultural values, which resonates deeply with the core role as journalists to educate, inform and uphold the truth in ways that build society.
In a gesture of solidarity, the Association pledged to honour the late Asantehemaa’s legacy by passing on the valuable lessons of her life to future generations.
“To the Royal Family and Asanteman, we assure you of the solidarity of the Ghanaian media.
“We shall continue to highlight the timeless lessons of her life and leadership so that future generations may learn and be inspired,” the GJA reaffirmed.
The National Executive of the GJA will join mourners on Thursday, August 21, 2025 to commiserate with His Majesty Otumfour Osei Tutu II, as Asanteman observe one week of the passing of Nana Konadu Yiadom III.
The GJA, in its statement, further prayed for the soul of the Asantehemaa to find rest in the Bosom of the Almighty as she journeys to join the ancestors, and her memory continues to inspire everyone to serve with humility, lead with integrity and live with compassion.
