The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the provisional results of candidates who sat for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for School Candidates.
The Council notes with plans to despatch the results of school candidates to their respective schools through the Metropolitan/Municipal/District Directors of Education.
The results are also available on the Council’s official website at www.waecgh.org for candidates who so desire to access them online.”
A total of 603,328 candidates, made up of 297,250 males and 306,078 females from 20,395 participating schools, registered for the examination.
This figure included 72 candidates with visual impairment, 239 with hearing impairment, and 161 candidates with other test accommodation needs. The examination was conducted at 2,237 centres across the country, with 2,526 candidates absent.
WAEC noted that several cases of malpractice were recorded leading to the “Cancellation of subject results of 718 candidates; cancellation of entire results of 177 candidates; withholding of subject results of 1,240 candidates; and withholding of entire results of 93 candidates.”
It added that the subject results of some candidates from 119 schools have been cancelled, while results of candidates from 87 schools have been withheld for further scrutiny.
“The withheld results may be cancelled or released based on the outcome of investigations by September 6, 2025,” WAEC indicated in a statement signed by John K. Kapi, Head of Public Affairs.
However, candidates whose results have been withheld or cancelled are directed to visit https://ireg.waecgh.org and click on the withheld/cancelled button for details of the investigations.
WAEC also cautioned stakeholders to be wary of fraudsters who promise to upgrade results for a fee. Candidates are to note that WAEC results are secured and can be authenticated.
It expressed gratitude to its stakeholders especially the Ministry of Education, Ghana Education Service, and just to mention a few who in diverse ways supported it in the successful conduct of the examination and release of results.
