Bibiani Gold Stars have emerged champions of the 2025 GHALCA Top 4 tournament, edging Accra Hearts of Oak on head-to-head record despite both teams finishing with seven points.
The final round of matches concluded on Sunday, August 24, at the University of Ghana Stadium, where Hearts of Oak secured a 2-1 victory over Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
However, Gold Stars’ earlier 5-4 win on penalties over the Phobians on matchday two following a 2-2 draw proved decisive, granting the Miners the title under GHALCA’s head-to-head superior rule.
Although Hearts of Oak ended the competition with a superior goal difference of +3 compared to Gold Stars, the tournament regulations prioritize direct encounters when teams are level on points.
Gold Stars had bolstered their title hopes earlier in the day by defeating Hearts of Lions 4-3 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in regulation time.
That result brought their tally to seven points, matching Hearts of Oak’s total.
Hearts of Lions finished third with four points from three matches, while Asante Kotoko ended bottom of the table without a win.
