Ghanaian musician and songwriter Martin King Arthur, popularly known as Kofi Kinaata, has shared a deeply personal reflection on the emotional weight of recent national tragedies, including the devastating military helicopter crash.
The incident that threw the country into a national mourning claimed the lives of several high-ranking officials on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at Obuasi.

In a heartfelt Facebook post on Monday, August 25, the award-winning artist behind hits like ‘Things Fall Apart’ expressed his struggle to cope with the series of losses that have shaken the country.
“From the loss of 16 kids, to the passing of our legendary musicians, and now the helicopter tragedy, it’s been weighing heavily on my soul. What makes it even harder is knowing I’ve been on that same flight twice this year,” he said, disclosing previously flown on the same aircraft involved in the crash.
The singer expressed deep anguish over the tragedy, saying, “That thought just won’t leave me. Moments like these really make you question life… what’s the point, when it can all end in an instant?”
Kinaata, known for blending social commentary with lyrical depth, admitted that music, his usual refuge has offered little relief in recent weeks with all attempt to navigate through grief toward healing
“I’ve tried to shake it off with music, but every song I write somehow turns into a sad one,” he observed.
