Seven people have reportedly lost their lives in a crash at Nkawanda No. 2 along the Nkawkaw section of the Accra–Kumasi highway in the Eastern Region.
The accident, which took place Tuesday afternoon, involved a Sprinter bus and a cargo truck.
According to sources, the Sprinter bus was transporting passengers from Somanya to Sefwi, who had attended a funeral, when the collision occurred.
Reports indicate that six passengers, including women, died instantly, while another victim passed away while being taken to the hospital.
Several others sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving treatment at nearby medical facilities.
However, the cargo truck’s driver and mate escaped without injury but have been taken into police custody to assist with investigations to unravel the cause.
