The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Deputy General-Secretary, Haruna Mohammed, has criticised the promises made by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to the Oseawuohene of Akyem Wenchi and his people regarding development.
Mr. Mohammed stated that the promises made ahead of the Akwatia by-election by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, were merely a tactic to gain endorsement and support from the traditional ruler and the community.
He further questioned the credibility of the Chief of Staff’s assurances, arguing that they are empty and not backed by tangible plans.
“These promises lack substance and are merely a ploy to gain support. The people of Akyem Wenchi deserve better than empty promises. They need tangible development initiatives that will improve their lives,” he said.
Chief of Staff Julius Debrah when reached out by Angel News’ Van Brown, to comments on the matter maintained that the NDC’s promises were genuine and aimed at improving the lives of the people of Akyem Wenchi and the district at large.
“The NPP is just trying to confuse the people. We have a clear plan for development in Akyem Wenchi, and we will deliver on our promises,” the Chief of Staff said, rubbishing the NPP agenda.
The Akwatia by-election, scheduled for Tuesday, September 2, 2025, is expected to be fiercely contested between the NPP and the NDC.
