The Principal Elder of the Yahoman Community within the Ga West Municipality of Greater Accra Region, Augustine Nii Akrakyi Sackey, has said that the area has no official Chief to steer its affairs.
He said Yahoman currently has no Chief and therefore, urged the people to ignore anyone who portrays himself as such.
He emphasised and described anybody parading himself as Chief of Yahoman as an impostor.
Addressing the media on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, in Accra, Nii Akrakyi Sackey noted that traditional rites and other arrangements were ongoing to create room for the enstoolment of a legitimate traditional ruler to help in developing the area.
He accused one Ishmael Quarshie of holding himself as Chief of Yahoman and cautioned that he should refrain from such behaviour.
“It is traditionally unlawful for any person who was not traditionally installed as Chief to go around and call himself a chief,” he disclosed.
The Principal Elder further accused Mr. Quarshie that while continuously using the chieftaincy title, he has allegedly been using landguards to chase their people from legally acquired properties.
He used the opportunity to appeal to President John Dramani Mahama, Inspector General of Police (Christian Yohuno Tetteh), and all security agencies to call the accused to order to avoid retaliation since they are respectful of the country’s laws.
“Not that we don’t have the men to fight Mr. Quarshie and his guys, but it is all because we are law-abiding citizens which is why we have remained calm.”
On his part, Nii Sakaa Odupong III, Mankralo of Sempe Odupong Kpehee, reiterated their call on President John Mahama and his government for intervention.
He hinted that they had men to face Mr. Quarshie and his men but they do not want to indulge in any act that disrupts the country’s peace.
