Two firefighters and one civilian sustained injuries during a warehouse fire at Lartebiokorshie near the Salvation Army School on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has confirmed.
The service, however, noted that the injured firefighters and civilian have all received treatment and are recovering well.
In an update, the GNFS said it received a distress call at 1615 hours and dispatched a response team with the first pump from the Greater Accra Regional Headquarters Substation arrived on scene at 1624 hours to find the fire already well advanced.
Reinforcements swiftly followed, including five additional fire tenders from Industrial Area, Circle, Accra Metro, Ministries, and Flagstaff House Fire Stations, supported by four private water tankers.
“After sustained firefighting operations, the blaze the confined at 1944 hours to the affected warehouse, preventing spread to surrounding residential buildings,” the GNFS noted where it disclosed the injuries of the three individuals.
According to the update, firefighters are continuing operations with earth-moving equipment to excavate unburnt debris and ensure full extinguishment of the deep-seated fire, which involved leather and plastic footwear materials stored in the warehouse.
