The Member of Parliament (MP) for Achiase Constituency, Kofi Ahenkorah Marfo, has called on delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to conduct themselves with integrity and decorum during the upcoming presidential primary.
Mr. Marfo emphasised that the election is an internal contest with five candidates vying for the party’s flagbearership; therefore, there is no need for insults or acrimony.
“Does it mean we’re enemies? This is an internal election that we’re conducting. We want someone who will lead the party. I am saying Bawumia, some are saying Bryan, and some are also saying Kennedy.
“But what is important is that let’s conduct ourselves well so that all the insults we use on ourselves may not take centre stage in our campaign.
“After doing that, and the Electoral Commission also does its work well and plays it fairly,” he advised.
He reaffirmed that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia stands out as the best candidate, citing his exceptional grassroots connection and marketability within the party, suggesting that these qualities make him a strong contender for the party’s flagbearership.
“What we should know is that we’re not harming Dr Bawumia, but it is the party that we’re destroying.
“When it is time for an election or when it comes to struggling for power, everyone has their stance, and this is natural. I’m for Bawumia, and someone may support Bryan, while others may support Hon Kennedy Agyapong.
“To say that the one who will win indeed wins fairly, then I don’t see why you should say that as for you, you supported Ken, but Ken did not win, so we go into opposition,” he opined.
