Musician and songwriter, Patapaa has stirred controversy on social media after alleging that celebrated rapper, Sarkodie’s rap style lacks originality and is mainly based on political themes.
In a media interaction, Patapaa boldly claimed that Sarkodie cannot match up to rapper King Paluta, insisting that Sarkodie’s lyrical content often includes insults and politically influenced verses.
“Sarkodie cannot even challenge King Paluta, I’m telling you the fact. His rap is always about politics. When it comes to rap that targets audiences like elderly people, he can’t do it. When you listen to his rap songs, he’s always insulting people but you don’t know,” Patapaa stated.
The “One Corner” hitmaker went further to question Sarkodie’s rap credibility, suggesting that much of his work lacks authenticity.
“If Sarkodie raps, what of Quata Brukusu,” he queried, hinting that other rappers are more versatile and creative.
Patapaa also recounted an incident involving music producer MOG Beatz, claiming that Sarkodie once sent him a beat to collaborate on of which his raps are just cut and join.
“Sarkodie’s raps are cut and join. I was there when his producer, MOG, sent me a beat that Sarkodie said he should send to me so I could do something on it. I did a song on it that was the song I performed at the Ghana Meets Naija event, ‘Me Hu Mepa Aba.’ After that, Sarkodie told MOG I should release it, and when it hits, we would do a remix,” Patapaa explained.
