The Member of Parliament (MP) for Tano South, Charles Asiedu, has stated that public servants in the country should undergo psychological examinations during their service.
Speaking on the Angel Morning Show (AMS) on Thursday, October 30, 2025, he addressed the issue of a military personnel who assaulted a pharmacist and a female customer, asserting that the actions of the man indicated psychological instability.
“There is something wrong with the guy psychologically… Judging from the actions in the video, there is something psychologically wrong with the man,” he said.
According to Hon. Charles Asiedu, the perpetrator exhibited fits of madness that are significantly above the standard rate of behaviour expected from a normal person in such situations.
“The mind has a standard rate it operates, so if your mind is not up to that standard it means you are foolish, but when your mind goes above the standard rate then it means you are crazy,” he iterated.
Mr Asiedu recommended that the government organise periodic mental health check-ups for men in uniform.
“The men in uniform should be checked periodically,” he suggested, adding that a person who was mentally fit at the time of recruitment may later experience issues that affect their mental health.
