Former Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection and former Member of Parliament (MP) for Dome-Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo has been honored with the prestigious African Giant in Leadership, Governance Humanitarian Award for her outstanding contributions to human development and social welfare in Ghana and beyond.
The award, presented by imperial Leo Limited at the 2025 Africa Corporate Connect held on Friday, October 31, 2025, at the British Council in Accra, recognizes individuals and institutions whose impactful work has significantly advanced leadership, governance and humanitarian efforts globally.
According to the organizers, the Africa Corporate Connect initiative aims to identify the celebrate outstanding partners and collaborators across Africa and beyond, recognizing their contributions to enterprises and institutions.
Adwoa Safo was honored for her outstanding commitment to uplifting lives through education, healthcare and social empowerment.
As an MP, she made a tangible impact by supporting hundreds of children with school fees and healthcare access.
Notably, she spearheaded the construction of clinics and hospitals, expanding quality medical care in her constituency.
In her role as Minister of State for Public Procurement, Adwoa Safo drove a transformative policy that set aside 30% of government procurement opportunities for marginalized groups, including women, youth and persons with disabilities.
This pioneering move marked major milestone in promoting inclusivity in public contracting.

Beyond her dedication to public service, Adwoa Safo’s philanthropic work continues to transform lives.
Through the Adwoa Safo Foundation (ASF), which was founded in 2014, she provides vital support to women, children with disabilities, the elderly and widows.
Her tireless efforts to uplift vulnerable population through various social interventions and empowerment initiatives have earned her widespread admiration and gratitude.
As the pioneering Woman Deputy Majority Leader and Chairperson of the Women Caucus, she championed numerous economic empowerment initiatives, training programs, and conferences for women parliamentarians on both national and international platforms.
