The Ghana Armed Forces and the Ghana Police Service have carried out simultaneous targeted and intelligence-led joint swoops in the Ashanti, Volta, and Ahafo Regions.
According to a statement issued by the Department of Public Relations of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), the operations, commenced at dawn on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.
The exercise were conducted in Dadwene and Anwoma in the Ashanti Region, Ehi in the Volta Region, and Hwediem, Kenyase, Guaso, and Marhani in the Ahafo Region.
The exercise, according to the statement aims at arresting identified persons involved in recent attacks on members of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) team, some Police officers, and officials of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), including journalists.
The Ghana Armed Forces and the Police Service cautioned that any individual or group attempting to obstruct their operations in the fight against illegal mining or any lawful duty will face the full force of the law.
The statement further assured the public that adequate measures have been put in place to ensure the safety and security of law-abiding residents within the affected areas.
“They are encouraged to remain calm and go about their regular duties without fear or panic,” parts of the statement said.
They expressed appreciation for the continued cooperation of the general public.
