Six people have been reported dead in a stampede at El-Wak Sports Stadium in Accra on Wednesday during an ongoing Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) recruitment exercise.
The incident occurred after thousands of hopeful applicants trooped to the venue, eager to secure positions in the Ghana Armed Forces.
According to reports, intense pushing at the entrances caused chaos, leading to several injuries and fatalities.
The deceased have been taken to the 37 Military Hospital mortuary, while the injured are receiving treatment at the hospital.
Security personnel have since cordoned off the area, with the military closing key routes around El-Wak Stadium to restore order and facilitate rescue efforts.
