The government has established an 11-member Ministerial Oversight Committee tasked with steering Ghana’s preparations for the forthcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The committee was unveiled at the Presidency on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, by Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah.
They will provide strategic leadership and ensure effective inter-ministerial coordination as the Black Stars gear up for their fifth appearance at the global football showcase.
According to the government, the committee’s mandate extends beyond technical preparation, focusing on ensuring that Ghana maximizes the full spectrum of opportunities offered by the World Cup, technically, diplomatically, economically and culturally.
Also, they are tasked to supervise the work of the already inaugurated Technical Working Group, receive periodic progress reports, and lead key initiatives.
It includes “resource mobilisation, investment partnerships, fan engagement efforts and the global promotion of Ghana’s image.”
The committee’s formation, government said signals coordinated national effort to strengthen planning and deliver a successful campaign on and off the pitch.

Sports Minister, Kofi Iddie Adams, emphasised the importance of a unified and coordinated approach to the Black Stars preparation for the tournament.
