The Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has revealed that, GH¢600million budget has been allocated to begin the construction of regional hospitals in three regions.
They included; Savannah, Oti, and Western North regions.
Speaking at the Government Accountability Series in Accra on Monday,December 1, 2025, Mr. Mintah underscored President John Dramani Mahama promise to construct six new hospitals.
He indicated the move is targeted at addressing the absence of regional hospitals in sixteen of the country’s regions.
“We now have sixteen regions, six out of the sixteen have lived for seven years without any regional hospitals.
“President Mahama has promised that he is going to construct six regional hospital,” the minister disclosed.
He added that the President has assured that, with the Health Ministry’s support, all unfinished Agenda 111 projects will be completed, aiming to construct at least a certain number of health facilities annually.
“President John Mahama has indicated that no unfinished health facility will be abandoned.
“The Ministry will continue to pursue projects such as La General Hospital, the Komfo Anokye Maternity Block, Segue Regional Hospital, Agenda 111, and other CHPS compounds,” he emphasized.
He further described the 2026 budget statement as health-oriented, aiming to establish at least two CHPS compounds annually.
