His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, will in the coming days submit his mediation efforts on the Bawku conflict, a statement from the Manhyia Palace announced.
According to the statement, the report will be supported by proposals from the Asantehene aimed at finding lasting solutions to the protracted conflict.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s move has become necessary after he concluded his mediation efforts in the Bawku chieftaincy crisis on Monday, December 1, 2025, with a face-to-face meeting between the contending Mamprusis and Kusasis at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.
Both delegations comprised Chiefs, Lawyers, Academics, Opinion Leaders, and Youth Leaders.
The Manhyia Palace statement, signed by its Chief of Staff, Kofi Badu, announced His Royal Majesty’s yet-to-be-presented findings at the Presidency.
“His Majesty announced that he would submit his report with his proposals to His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama in the next few days.
“He hoped that the President would act expeditiously and convene a formal meeting of all interested parties to announce the outcome of the mediation mission,” parts of the statement read.
It explained that His Majesty had brought both sides together to speak directly to each other in a final effort to explore a pathway to lasting resolution of the issues that have persistently undermined peace in the Bawku traditional area.
This, according to the statement, stemmed from several months of listening to both parties, who presented their arguments in separate meetings.
“The meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere with both sides emphasising the fact that they are one people who have no reason to be at war with each other.
“His Majesty thanked both sides for their civility and maturity and urged them to remember that whatever the outcome of the mediation, they would have to live together as brothers and sisters.”
He further urged the leaders to start preparing the minds of their supporters to permanently put an end to violence and disorder in their communities.
