The Western Regional Public Relations Department of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has embarked on a public education campaign on key emergency procedures ahead of the Christmas festive season.
The initiative focuses on Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) leakage risks, proper handling, emergency reporting channels, and the negative impact of prank calls on response times.
In a statement, the Regional Public Relations Officer (PRO), Emmanuel Bonney, noted that the GNFS also engaged traders and listeners by highlighting fire safety measures in the high‑risk Apremdo Market.
“Discussions centered on fire prevention strategies, traders’ responsibilities, charcoal fire safety, the need for food vendors to keep fire extinguishers, safe LPG cylinder handling, and enhanced 24/7 market patrols,” the statement read.
The statement further indicated that both engagements form part of the GNFS’s continued efforts to strengthen public awareness and reduce fire risks across the Western Region.
