The Ghana Police Service has rescued a young woman who was seen in a viral video with a severe injury to her left eye, visibly distressed and calling for help.
The police also arrested the suspect, identified as Bright Kpodo, also known as Horror, who is the victim’s partner.
According to reports, the Inpector General of Police’s (IGP) Special Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team launched a swift intelligence operation after receiving the video, which led them to Okushibri near Apollonia, where both the victim and suspect were located.
The police noted that preliminary investigations reveal that Kpodo subjected the victim to physical abuse, resulting in the injury observed in the video.
He is currently in police custody assisting with ongoing investigations, while arrangements are being made to provide the necessary support for the victim.
The police administration urged the public to report incidents of domestic violence to the police for investigation and prosecution.
