Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has said government will deploy diplomatic channels to strengthen support for Ghana’s Black Stars at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to him, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will collaborate with Ghana’s missions abroad and allied partners to facilitate travel arrangements, secure consular assistance, and ensure that large numbers of Ghanaian fans can rally behind the team during the tournament.
Mr. Ablakwa gave the assurance after Ghana learned its group opponents for the competition in the draw held on Friday, December 5, 2025, in Washington D.C.
Ghana has been paired alongside England, Croatia, and Panama in Group L, a line-up widely regarded as one of the most competitive in the tournament.
In a post on X, Saturday, December 6, the minister indicated that the government, through his sector, will intensify diplomatic engagement with host nations to guarantee smooth entry and strong representation of Ghanaians
“We have unflinching confidence in our heroic Black Stars to make us proud despite having been drawn in an uber-competitive group.
“Now, it’s our duty to leverage cordial diplomatic alliances to ensure a good number of Ghanaian soccer fans get the opportunity to zestfully support the team in the US and Canada as our supporters are globally renowned for,” he posted.
Mr. Ablakwa stressed “Ghana shall be unstoppable! We shall succeed — for God and Country.”
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be jointly hosted by Mexico, Canada, and the United States from June 11 to July 18, marking the first time three nations will stage the global showpiece.
