The Member of Parliament (MP), for Akuapem South Constituency, Lawrencia Adwoa Dziwornu, has reaffirmed her commitment to ensuring that development reaches every corner of the constituency.
She emphasized that no constituent in Akuapem South will be denied a fair share of the national cake.
Madam Dziwornu made this known on Sunday, December 7, 2025, as she expressed profound gratitude to the people for the trust reposed in her during the 2024 elections, while marking her one-year anniversary as MP.
In her statement reflecting on her historic victory on December 7, 2024, the lawmaker likened her gratitude to the biblical leper who returned to Christ, acknowledging the honour bestowed upon her by the people to represent Akuapem South in Parliament.
“As the leper returned to Christ with gratitude, I also return with deep appreciation to the good people of Akuapem South for entrusting me with the honour of representing you in Parliament as your Member of Parliament.”
She extended heartfelt thanks to Constituency Executives, Ward Coordinators, Branch Executives, and Polling Agents whose sacrifice and grassroots mobilisation secured victory for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
“Your loyalty to the party and belief in our shared vision laid the foundation for this mandate. Our message was simple: to reset Ghana, and on my part, to make Akuapem South better,” she stated.
Highlighting her achievements within the past twelve months, the MP outlined several interventions including the Akuafo Adanfo initiative, which has distributed over 1,000 bags of fertilizer to farmers, and the Adwoa Education Fund, which has supported more than 700 students.
She also mentioned the Adwoa Cares & Food Bank, which provides relief to the elderly and vulnerable, and noted her role in facilitating job opportunities for constituents, among other initiatives.
Madam Dziwornu stressed that she will leverage her mandate with every opportunity available to ensure that all campaign promises are fulfilled.
“To every constituent, I assure you that with God on our side, every campaign promise shall be fulfilled, and development shall reach everyone’s doorstep,” she pledged.
She further underscored President John Mahama’s bold vision, which is already manifesting through initiatives such as Adwumawura, the Big Push Project, No Fees Stress, and the National Apprenticeship Programme.
Lawrencia Adwoa Dziwornu’s election ended the decades-long dominance of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Akuapem South with a narrow victory.
She secured 15,438 votes (50.22%), defeating Eric Yeboah Apeadu of the NPP, who garnered 15,304 votes (49.78%), ensuring the NDC historically captured the parliamentary seat for the first time in more than a decade.
