The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) reported a devastating fire that broke out at Kukurantumi-Banana Street in the Eastern Region on the night of December 3, 2025, destroying several shops and valuable items.
The GNFS said the incident occurred at 2259 hours when a distress call was placed to the Kukurantumi station.
A team of firefighters, led by ADO I Somuah, swiftly arrived at the scene at 2322 hours to find a commercial building engulfed in flames. The crew immediately commenced firefighting operations, successfully bringing the blaze under control at 2337 hours and fully extinguishing it by 2342 hours.
According to a statement from the Service, despite the extensive damage to shop contents, including electronics and furniture, the rapid intervention of the GNFS prevented the fire from spreading to nearby properties.
The report filed by the Public Relations of the GNFS, Eastern Region, on Monday, December 8, 2025, indicated confirmed that investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the outbreak.
