Firefighters from the Hohoe Command of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) have swiftly responded to an incident involving a petrol tanker (GT‑1140‑18) that veered off the road on Tuesday, December 9, 2025.

According to a report from the Service, the tanker crashed into a high‑tension electricity pole and a nearby container shop.

The emergency crew first isolated electrical power to the fallen lines to prevent further hazards.

They then applied foam concentrate to cool the tanker, which was carrying approximately 54,000 litres of petrol, successfully averting a potential explosion.
With assistance from the Hohoe Police, the tanker was safely recovered and towed away from the scene.

The Service further indicated that no injuries were reported, though the vehicle sustained minor damage to its windscreen and head compartment.
