The Asantehene His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has presented the Bawku conflict mediation report to President John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, for consideration and further action.
Presenting the report at the Jubilee House, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, underscored the importance of the report on the mediation of the protracted Bawku conflict.
He suggested that, going forward, the report serves as a mechanism to bind all the feuding parties involved in the long-standing conflict.
According to him, following the engagement with the parties involved, they appeared to kept arms and weapons, urging President Mahama to find a way for these weapons to be retrieved in return for an appeasement.
He further cautioned the general public and persons of either side of the conflict to refrain from making pronouncements which could jeopardise the peace process.
“Where we have reached, it is more like a reconciliation…We have gotten to a stage where we all have to make peace,” he stressed.
On his part, President John Dramani Mahama assured Ghanaians that government will in the next 24 hours issue a statement on its position on the Bawku conflict mediation report.
He further acknowledged the Asantehene’s effort by mediating and engaging the parties involved for a resolution of the conflict.
President John Mahama urged the Peace Council, the National House of Chiefs and the Asantehene to proceed with the mediation in the matter for a reconciliation between the parties involved.
