The University of Ghana (UG) has announced a series of senior-level appointments and promotions following approvals by the University Council.
According to the UG, the decision was arrived at its meeting held on 18th December 2025.
In a memorandum issued by the Office of the Registrar, the Council confirmed the elevation of distinguished academics and administrators to new roles across the institution.
Among the appointments, Prof. Akosua Adomako Ampofo has been named Emerita Professor at the Centre for Gender Studies and Advocacy, while Prof. Aaron Nii Lante Lawson has been conferred the title of Emeritus Professor at the Department of Anatomy.
Additionally, Prof. Ato Quayson has been appointed to the prestigious Kwame Nkrumah Chair in African Studies for the 2025/2026 academic year at the Institute of African Studies.
Effective 1st January 2026, Dr. Gordon Abekah-Nkrumah will assume the role of Director of the Institutional Advancement Directorate, Prof. Patrick Asamoah Saky will serve as Dean of the School of Graduate Studies, and Mr. Samuel Nana Yaw Simpson has been appointed Deputy Director of Risk Management at the Internal Audit Directorate.
The Council also renewed the appointment of Mrs. Patricia Tay as College Finance Officer at the College of Humanities, effective 1st August 2025.
The University emphasized that these appointments reflect its commitment to academic excellence and effective administration.
“The University Council, at its meeting held on 18th December 2025, considered and approved the following appointments and promotions, as recommended by the Appointments Board,” the memorandum stressed.
