Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Björkegren has voiced strong belief that his team will book a spot at the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Ghana will battle for qualification through the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), set to take place in Morocco later this year.
The Queens have been drawn in Group D alongside Cameroon, Cape Verde, and Mali.
The tournament, scheduled for 17 March to 3 April 2026, will see the semifinalists automatically qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil, which will be held from 24 June to 25 July.
Speaking about Ghana’s prospects, the Swedish tactician was adamant that his side will book a semifinal berth in the forthcoming WAFCON.
“Yes, we will qualify for the World Cup,” he declared in an interview on GHOne.
He continued, “If you don’t believe that you will make it, there is no need to give it a try. It will not be easy, and we all know that, but in football, everything can happen.
“There are so many teams that are close to each other in Africa and on a similar level, but a little bit different in style of play and approach.”
He expressed the Queen’s readiness for the continental tournament.
“You can have a bad day, but hopefully, we will not. I can guarantee that we will be fit and prepared, and we will be ready for the tournament,” he said.
Kim Lars previously guided the Black Queens to a bronze medal finish in the last WAFCON hosted in Morocco.
