Member of Parliament ( MP), for Bantama and the former Minister for Roads and Highways, Francis Asenso- Boakye has questioned the government’s funding priorities regarding the Suame Interchange in the Ashanti Region.
Speaking on behalf of the Ashanti Caucus at a press briefing on Monday, February 9, 2026, he asked why the government was able to mobilise funds for other road projects while the Suame Interchange was scaled off.
“If the government could mobilise funds for Ofankor Nsawan road which was started by the New Patriotic Party ( NPP) administration and it is an important road just like the Suame interchange project and other roads project, why is the Suame interchange project being short changed.”
He emphasized that the Finance Minister publicly stated that 43 billion was allocated to road infrastructure this year, so why can’t a fraction of that amount be applied to complete the Suame interchange project as originally designed.
He also criticized the government for prioritising 64 new roads project instead of completing the interchange.
“If government claims it lacks funds to complete the full design of the Suame Interchange project, why is it financing the 64 new project, recently rushed through public procurement system processes,” he stated.
“The Ashanti Caucus of Parliament therefore calls on Parliament to restore the original four- tie design of the Suame interchange project and complete the project,” he added.
