The Member of Parliament (MP) for Asunafo North Constituency, Haruna Muhammed, has expressed that the Finance Minister will deliver positive news for Cocoa farmers amid their concerns.
The minister, Casiel Ato Forson, is expected to address the public later in the day on the roadmap to tackling the pressing issues confronting the Cocoa sector.
This comes after President John Dramani Mahama called for an emergency cabinet meeting on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, to address cocoa farmers issues.
Speaking on the Angel Anopa Bofoɔ hosted by Ohemaa Sekyiwaa on Thursday, February 12, he assured farmers to remain calm and anticipate a refreshing news from the finance minister.
According to Mr. Haruna, President Mahama has exhibited commitment and dedication to an inclusive government to ensure no one is left behind, citing the cabinet emergency meeting as a symbol.
He, thus, called out the opposition New Patrioitic Party (NPP) for playing partisan politics with the matter, something he described as premature.
“What the NPP wants is to use this against the NDC after four years, but this is a premature ejaculation; the money is coming, and the price will not reduce too,” he uttered.
The MP accused the NPP for creating the current problems within the Cocoa industry where he allegedly that they left huge debt before exiting office.
“Some of us didn’t even realise this was the problem on the ground, but at this point, that is why the president said no, we need to use a radical approach to tackle this issue,” he stated.
