The former Member of Parliament (MP) for Amenfi Central, Peter Kwakye Ackah, has urged cocoa farmers to exercise restraint with the government and accept the recent reductions in cocoa prices.
Speaking on the Angel Anopa Bofuo show hosted by Saddick Adams on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, he said that if the cuts are necessary to restructure the cocoa sector, farmers should reluctantly accept them.
“Do we have a choice? It is not the best at all, but if that is what will help restructure the sector, then we should accept it,” he stated.
Mr. Ackah acknowledged that no one wants to experience a breach of contract, where an agreed price is later reduced. However, given the losses farmers have faced, he believes acceptance is necessary for the betterment of the sector.
Commenting on the recent salary reduction of COCOBOD top staff and management, former MP expressed gratitude to its CEO, Randy Abbey, COCOBOD for taking a bold step in light of the ongoing national discussion on the issue.
“I’m so happy they accepted to reduce their salary to show that they are also affected,” he remarked.
