Ghanaian actor, Big Akwes, has publicly expressed his admiration for Florence Obinim, the wife of Bishop Daniel Obinim, stating that he would be interested in a relationship with her should her marriage come to an end.
His remarks come amid ongoing public conversations surrounding the recent controversy involving Bishop Obinim and his wife.
Speaking in a video circulating on social media, Big Akwes criticised the preacher for making comments about Florence in public, arguing that such actions could damage her image and reputation.
According to the actor, if Bishop Obinim is no longer interested in the marriage, he should address the situation respectfully rather than subjecting his wife to public scrutiny.
“If Bishop Obinim decides to end his marriage to Florence, I would gladly welcome her into my life. He seems unaware of the value of the woman he has and continues to criticize her publicly. If he no longer loves her, he should be honest about it and allow her to move on freely. Disgracing her and telling lies about her so that at the end of the day, when he leaves her, no one would go for her. I’m telling Obinim that if he makes the mistake and leaves his wife, I would go for her,” he added.
He suggested that publicly speaking negatively about Florence could be an attempt to tarnish her image and discourage other potential admirers from showing interest in her if the marriage eventually ends.
The actor further revealed that he has admired Florence for many years and considers her one of the women he has always respected from afar. However, he noted that he has never acted on those feelings because she remains a married woman.
“I have admired Florence for a long time and have always had a soft spot for her. However, I respect the fact that she is a married woman and would never interfere in someone else’s relationship. As long as she remains Obinim’s wife, I cannot express my feelings to her, but if they ever part ways, I would not hesitate to pursue her,” he disclosed.
Big Akwes stressed that he believes in respecting relationships and would never interfere in another man’s marriage. Nevertheless, he maintained that if Florence and Bishop Obinim were to legally part ways, he would not hesitate to express his interest in her.
The actor also advised Bishop Obinim to handle any marital challenges privately and maturely rather than discussing them publicly.
“He should end the marriage the mature way so that those who are interested can get the chance, but not embarrass her like that,” he stated.
He pointed out that divorce is not uncommon, even among prominent religious leaders, and argued that if the preacher decides to end the marriage, he should do so respectfully and move on with his life.
