The Ghana Education Service (GES) has cancelled the two-day mid-term break scheduled for November 5 and 6, 2026, for all basic schools across the country.
The decision forms part of efforts to recover instructional hours lost during the recent industrial action.
In a statement issued on Monday, November 2, Management of the GES said all basic schools are expected to remain open and undertake normal academic activities on Thursday, November 5, and Friday, November 6, 2026.
The Service has therefore urged teachers, students, parents and guardians to take note of the cancellation and be guided accordingly.
The cancellation means basic school pupils will have to continue with their academic activities during the two days initially set aside for the mid-term break.
GES reaffirmed its commitment to quality education and called for the cooperation of all stakeholders in implementing the directive.
