The National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, is urging the Inspector-General of Police to ensure that personnel to he deployed for the by-election in Akwatia conduct themselves professionally.
The Electoral Commission has scheduled the by-election for Tuesday, September 2, 2025.

As part of preparations for the election, the NPP on Wednesday, July 30, held a delegates’ conference and campaign launch at Boadua to officially unveil its candidate for the by-election, Solomon Kwame Asumadu.
Speaking at the conference, Nana B emphasized that the IGP must implement strict and punitive security measures to guarantee a peaceful, incident-free election in Akwatia.
According to him, the party does not want a repeat of the violence and brutalities that occurred during the Ablekuma North by-election, where some NPP members were assaulted and beaten.
He warned that if the necessary protection is not provided by the security services, the party would take steps to defend itself.
On the party’s preparedness for the by-election, Nana B assured the Eastern Regional executives that the national leadership is ready to provide every necessary resource to support the Akwatia constituency executives in retaining the seat for the NPP.
He further urged all NPP members in Akwatia to intensify their campaign efforts to secure a decisive victory for Mr. Asumadu in honor of the late Member of Parliament, Ernest Yaw Kumi.
