Gospel musician, Empress Gifty, has sparked debate after defending Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) procedures and criticizing those who oppose them, claiming many of their objections stem from financial limitations.
Speaking on the growing conversation surrounding cosmetic enhancements, Empress Gifty argued that there is nothing biblically wrong with undergoing body-enhancement procedures or using accessories such as hip pads.
The gospel artiste made the remarks while defending media personality Abena Kyei Boakye, who recently faced widespread criticism after a video that appeared to show her hip pad shifting went viral on social media.
According to Empress Gifty, the public reaction was unnecessary, insisting that the Bible does not prohibit the use of hip pads or cosmetic surgery aimed at improving one’s appearance.
“If wearing a hip pad is a sin, then show us where it is written in the Bible,” she questioned. “Hip pads can enhance a person’s appearance, and there is nothing wrong with that. In fact, we may even start using similar enhancements on our arms and teeth. Where exactly does the Bible state that such things are sinful, she asked.
She further noted that BBL procedures are often misunderstood by the public, explaining that the process involves transferring excess fat from one part of the body to another to enhance a person’s shape.
“BBL is not even expensive. It costs about $15,000. What is expensive is the aftercare,” she stated.
Empress Gifty also suggested that she and others would continue embracing cosmetic enhancements despite criticism from sections of the public. She humorously remarked that they would even consider more procedures and cosmetic accessories to frustrate those who constantly condemn such practices.
She further encouraged manufacturers to develop more innovative body-shaping products, including hip pads, to meet the growing demand among women who choose to enhance their appearance.
