The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Abura Asebu Kwamankese (AAK) District, Daniel Mensah Weddy, has advised communities against proceeding with any planned demonstrations over road infrastructure, saying construction and improvement projects are in advanced stages of preparation.

The DCE made a direct appeal to residents of various rural communities to cease all preparations for protests. According to him, the government and the district assembly are actively working to address the road network issues that have caused frustration for many residents.

Mensah Weddy referenced recent community actions, including the demonstration in Abura Obokor, where residents expressed discontent with both the Member of Parliament and the DCE over the poor condition of roads.

He noted that the bad road conditions have reportedly led to drivers imposing high charges on passengers, placing a financial burden on the local populace.

He appealed for calm and patience, asking residents to trust that their concerns are being heard and acted upon.

The DCE further stated that while the district is predominantly agricultural, the government recognizes the link between robust road infrastructure and economic prosperity.

He said enhancements to the road network are expected to boost the local economy, facilitate the transportation of goods and produce, and positively affect the financial well-being of households.
