The Government, through the Interior Ministry, has announced Friday, December 3, 2021, as a statutory holiday to mark the annual Farmers’ Day celebration.

The declaration was made through an official statement signed by the sector Minister, Mr. Ambrose Dery.

The statement also asked the general public to observe the day as such throughout the country.

This year’s Farmer’s Day will be the 37th National event that will be hosted at Cape Coast in the Central Region on the theme “Planting for food and jobs; Consolidating food systems in Ghana.”

Meanwhile, the ceremony has been officially launched in September this year by the Ministries of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) and Fisheries and Aquaculture Development (FAD) in a colorful ceremony in Accra.

Similarly, today, December 2 is the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) Farmers’ Forum, a platform to climax the Grand Durbar and Award Ceremony on Friday, December 3, 2021.

Farmers’ Day was instituted by late president Jerry John Rawlings-led Provisional National Defence Council in 1985 and has since been observed every first Friday in December to recognize and appreciate the substantial contribution of farmers and agriculture production to the socio-economic development of the Country following the 1983 famine.
