Some residents and members of a royal family from Onwe in the Ejisu Municipality of the Ashanti Region, have called over 10 river gods to invoke curses on their Chief and other elders whom they accuse of selling their farmlands unlawfully.
They alleged that Nana Asokwa Danka Gyeabour ll, who is the traditional ruler of the community, and his accomplices sold their rice farmland to sand winners without notice.
“Our lands, cultivated with rice have all been sold out and destroyed,” one of the angry family members said in an interview with Angel News.
They claimed that, the lands were offered to them by their ancestors for purposes of cultivation of rice for posterity. Hence, any attempt to destroy the land or sell it for any reason would not be permitted.
According to the spokesperson for the family, Akwasi Antwi, their displeasure with the actions of the chief and the sand winners, led to the filing of the case in court against them, a case which is still being heard.
He, therefore, called on the following river gods: River Oda, River Asrapong, River Asansu, Antoa Nyamaa, River Abura, River Ayanta among others to deal with anyone indulging in the selling and destroying of the farmland.
He imprecated thus, “deal with anybody who comes to win the sand while the court still sits on the case, whoever began the process, be it the chief, family members.”
