The National Sports Authority (NSA) has announced that the Accra Sports Stadium will admit full capacity of crowd, for Sunday’s Super Clash between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko.
A statement issued by the NSA disclosed that the directives c,ame after a fruitful consultation with the Ghana Health Service Covid-19 Taskforce.
It comes after the NSA had earlier written to the government’s COVID-19 Task Force to consider reviewing the current 25% stadium attendance in the country.
The statement signed by the Director-General of the NSA, Prof. Peter Twumasi, indicated; “as clubs receive clearance to play full capacity at the Accra Sports Stadium during the match between the Accra Sports Stadium and Kumasi Asante Kotoko on Sunday 20th February 2022, all attendees must strictly wear facemasks and observe social distancing.”
To ensure adherence to the protocols, the “Ghana Health Service will also mount vaccination centres to offer free COVID-19 vaccination to spectators and the general public.
The organizers of the match have also been asked to work in collaboration with the Covid-19 Taskforce and other stakeholders to enforce the directives.
“You are, therefore, advised to work closely with the Authority’s Management, Covid-19 Taskforce and other stakeholders to enforce this directive.” the statement urged.
This means the 40, 000 capacity of the Accra Sports Stadium would be expected to be filled in full capacity.
Eightth placed Hearts of Oak having garnered 24 points from 16 matches h,ost league leaders Asante Kotoko, who have also accumulated 36 points same number of matches played in the 2021/2022 Ghana Premier League.
