Minority Chief Whip, Muntaka Mubarak, has called on the Ministry of Information and other agencies to undertake a national sensitization programme, aimed at educating the citizenry on the possible terror attacks which the National Security and Interior Ministry have portended.

The National Security and the Interior ministry in various press releases cautioned the public and institutions to take precautionary measures against the activities of terrorists who are believed to have targeted Ghana.

It follows various attacks by militant groups on neighbouring countries including Tago, Burkina Faso and Cote D’Ivoire.

Contributing his opinion to the development, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for Asawase Constituency, Muntaka Mubarak called on the Information Ministry to liaise with the relevant agencies and the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to embark on the nationwide sensitization program reaching the remotest part of the country.

He also cautioned the public, particulalry the religious bodies, various tribes and schools to embrace religious, tribal, educational tolerance resist the terrorists since the latter could easily cease the opportunity of demonstrations, tribal and institutional intolerance to recruit aggrieved people or act in such situations.

“We must also be patient. One of the things they take advantage of is the misunderstandings that happen among us, whether it is religious, tribal, or anything that creates confusion. So, I urge the citizenry to be patient specifically religious tolerance so that these people [terrorists] do not have reason to take advantage of those who are aggrieved.”

“As Ghanaians, we must all be very vigilant to report all sorts of strange people or strangers to the security agencies to help fight terrorists,” the legislator added.
