The trial of Chinese businesswoman, En Huang or Aisha Huang continues at the circuit court today, Wednesday, September 14, 2022, as she is expected to answer to charges slapped on her.
Aisha Huang is facing two charges in court for trading minerals in the country without a license and engaging in mining without a license at Bepotenten in Amansie West District of the Ashanti region.
At the last sitting, the court presided over by Samuel Bright did not take her plea because there was no Chinese interpreter to aid the court.
The case was thus adjourned to Wednesday to continue the process with the presence of an interpreter.
Aisha Huang was arrested and deported in 2019 after government suspended her court trial.
She re-entered the country in 2022 to engage in illegal activities with false documents for which she was arrested and re-arraigned before the court.
The Attorney General has, however, indicated his intention to take over the current prosecution case and her previous cases in court.
Meanwhile, the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has supported the Attorney General’s move to take over the cases.
