Seven lactating mothers and eleven visibly pregnant girls are writing the 2022 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Awutu Senya West District of the Central Region.
Out of the 3,291 registered candidates for the area in the year’s BECE, 1,649 are girls while 1,642 are boys. Some 2,542 candidates are from 68 public schools comprising of 1,293 females and 1,250 males.
Meanwhile, 749 candidates from the private schools also partaking in the exercise have 357 females and 392 males.
According to the Education Directorate of the Awutu Senya West District, 17 candidates out of the total number of candidates were absent on the first day.
The absentees candidates, Angelonline.com.gh understands, comprised of 16 other students including one lactating mother. However, there were no absentee pregnant girls on the first day, meaning all 11 showed up on Monday, October 18, 2022.
The Directorate noted that the examination was smooth across all centres in the district.
