The six-newly nominated ministers by President Akufo-Addo to fill in some vacant positions of the government, are expected to appear before the appointments Committee of Parliament.
The nominees expected to appear before the committee are Kobina Tahir Hammond, Dr. Stephen Amoah, Bryan Acheampong, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, Osei Bonsu Amoah, and Stephen Asamoah Boateng.
Kobina Tahiru Hammond, the Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa Constituency in the Ashanti Region, was nominated as the new Minister of Trade and Industry to replaces Mr Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen who resigned in January to focus on his presidential ambitions.
The other new appointments include Bryan Acheampong who will head the Ministry of Food and Agriculture replacing Dr Afriyie Akoto who also resigned to pursue his presidential vision; Stephen Asamoah Boateng will also oversee the affairs of the Chieftaincy Ministry and Dr Stephen Amoah as Deputy Trade Minister.
They rest are Osei Bonsu Amoah, the MP for Akwapim South now Minister for Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development and Dr Mohammed Amin Adam, MP for Karaga now Minister of State at the Finance Ministry.
The two-day exercise starts on Monday, February 20, 2023, for conducting the vetting and approval hearings for the six nominees of the various ministerial positions.
The meeting would take place at the Committee Rooms 1 &2 of the Administration Block at 10:00 am to consider and approve the President’s nominations.
