The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has said that he is not surprised by the recent invasion of the studios of UTV by some NPP youths.
Speaking to Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah, the host of Angel Morning Show, he said he’s not surprised at what happened because management of UTV took sides with the government and never suspected such humiliation.
“UTV and others have allowed the government to control them underground…the radio stations which were closed were those who were not in favour of the government,” he stated.
Such practices, the NDC leader said are “undemocratic” and a scheme to prevent media houses to gag the media.
He insinuated that President Akuffo Addo’s understanding of democracy is just “voting to bring people into power” but nothing else, stressing the the President has become a dictator who is infringing on the right and freedom of the people.
“The media freedom is codified in the constitution therefore the government has no right to direct any media house on how to carry out its work,” he added.
