Greater Accra Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Anthony Nukpenu has apportioned blame to management of the Volta River Authority (VRA) over the recent Akosombo Dam Spillage.
He accused officials overseeing the day-to-day management of the VRA of letting Ghanaians down in terms of proactiveness.
“Management of the Volta Lake is a problem under VRA,” he said on Angel Morning Show.
Mr. Nukpenu suggested the government entrusts the Volta Lake management to a different company.
“I would be happy if government can take it up and give to a subsidiary company to manage,” he added.
He stated that there are brains in Ghana and the government should assemble them to find a lasting solution to the problems facing the country in different sectors.
“We have brains in Ghana, Lets assemble them to find a lasting solution…then we go to the long-term solution of how we can manage the Volta Lake going forward, to avert some of these things,” the NDC organizer to Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah.
The Volta River Authority (VRA) earlier on Monday, October 23, 2023, absolved itself of blame of the flooding in some parts of the Volta Region.
According to the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of VRA, Ing. Kenneth Arthur, although the unfortunate occurred, they had always acted rightly to avoid any unforeseen circumstances.
