A women empowerment group, Classic Ladies, has officially been launched after a year of existence with impactfulness.
The launch which came off on Sunday, January 14, 2024, saw the induction of a team of executives to steer the affairs of the group going forward.
Since its formation exactly a year ago, the group has been involved in philanthropic activities including giving support to the needy and the less privileged.
Speaking to Angel TV at the event grounds at Odorkor Official Town, the group’s General Secretary, Rita Affram, said they aim to support and push women to the top through their empowerment programmes.
According to her, offering financial assistance and other forms of support among themselves as well as their catchment area were key to the establishment of Classic Ladies.
“We form this group to empower women in the society to make us stand special and extraordinary so that we can equally find our way through where men find themselves,” she explained.
Madam Affram stressed, adding that “we [Classic Ladies] seek to also get ourselves prepared in the future and compete for higher offices and positions.”
Highlighting further the purposes of the group, she opined they intend to alleviate and minimize practices of immorality where women are involved.
“Talking about our motive apart from the aforementioned, we want to ensure that women do not engage themselves in some immoralities such as prostitution and other unhealthy lifestyles,” noted the general secretary.
Member of Parliament for Ablekuma North, Sheila Bartels who graced the program as the special guest of honour, congratulated Classic Ladies for their journey so far and encouraged them to continue on the noble path.
She entreated them to serve the intended purpose of the group amid serving as ambassadors to young girls in the societies, not only in Ghana but in cross-border for impactful transformation.
“Let us feel your presence in the various communities to assure that women aspire to the top, not only in Ghana but Africa and the World at large.”
However, she warned them against swapping the group’s missions and visions for an enjoyment club.
The MP who is seeking reelection charged the group to use their medium to rewrite the story of women’s failure to compete with men for leadership positions at the top levels.
Pledging her support to Classic Ladies the lawmaker said “Whatever I can do to support, to promote, and to help see the goal of the group achieved, I’ll do it in my capacity.”
