Founder of Independent Election Security and Compliance Watchers (IESCW), Richard Kumadoe has stated that the violence recorded at the ongoing Limited Voter Registration exercise is a result of bad precedents set by authorities.

He believes the failure of law enforcement agencies to implement the laws effectively and punish electoral offenders has emboldened others to commit similar offences.

Mr. Kumadoe who reacting to the pockets of violence that have occurred at various registration centres during the Limited Registration Exercise on the Angel Morning Show on Monday, May 13, 2024, said the country is reaping exactly what it has sowed.

“During the Ejisu by-election and recently at Cape Coast, someone was seen sharing an envelope containing money and wielding a gun but let us ask ourselves, what happens to them? That is where arrest should have taken place, however, there was nothing of such ,therefore, there is no fear among the people anymore that IGP Akuffo Dampare is back at his feet,” the also a Fraud and Security Consultant said.

He suggested that security agencies such as the police, must start acting professionally to make the laws take its cause accordingly without any favouritism and discrimination.

“I’m thinking that reasonably, when anyone crosses the red line, let us begin to effect arrest irrespective of whoever they are and wherever they are coming from because it will settle the grounds for many things to happen,” he added.

He stressed that the Electoral Commission must revise its notes to ensure the problems being encounteried in the ongoing exercise are fixed to avoid further occurrences, especially during the 2024 general elections.

“Well, if they re-strategised themselves, I believe it can leverage for the 2024 general elections,” Mr. Kumadoe said.
